Lifters Jhilli, Sneha secure SAG gold medals

Odisha weightlifters Jhilli Dalabehera and Soren Sneha won the gold medal in womens 45kg and 49kg category respectively at the 13th South Asian Games (SAG) in Pokhara, Nepal today. India bagged as many as four gold medals on the opening day of the weightlifting event.

Jhilli lifted a total of 151kg (66kg in snatch and 85kg in clean & jerk), while Sneha lifted 68kg in the snatch and followed it up by an 89kg effort in the clean and jerk category for a total of 157kg.

Other two gold medals for India were bagged by Sidhanta Gogoi in mens 61kg category and Bindyarani Devi Sorokhaibam in womens 55kg class.

Three athletes from Odisha have been able to win medal in the SAG so far. Before Jhilli and Sneha, shooter Shriyanka Sadangi claimed team gold and individual silver in womens 10m air rifle event.
